A new activity from the project “BlueLightS – EnLIGHTening Future Schools to Deliver BLUE Sustainability in Europe”, funded by the European Union through the Horizon Europe Program, took place on the beach in Mamaia.
The students of the 6th grade A from the Secondary School No. 37, Constanța, coordinated by the headmistress, Prof. Georgescu Violeta, stepped into a real land full of mystery, where the sea became a teacher, and nature – an open textbook.
It all started with the “Legend of the 4 Guardians of the Black Sea”, a story that taught them that the sea reveals its secrets only to those who know how to look with their heart. The students took an OATH on the beach, promising respect and care for nature.
Then, divided into 4 teams, they set off on a treasure hunt… differently. They did not look for gold, but fragments of a marine soul. They explored the shore in search of the most unique shells and natural textures, each discovery being a small triumph.
They collected time-polished shells, bizarrely shaped stones and pieces of wood brought by the waves, each carrying a story written by salt and wind. At the same time, they had an important mission: to identify and collect 5 pieces of waste before validating their natural “treasures”.
With the help of a worksheet, they learned to recognize species such as rapana, mussel, sand shell, striped shell or white shell. The challenges did not stop there: they looked for a lucky stone, a piece of glass polished by the waves and 3 objects that do NOT belong to the Black Sea, which they collected responsibly.
The sea taught them perhaps the most precious thing: the art of giving and letting everything flow. Sometimes the most valuable treasures are not the ones you take home, but the ones you keep in your heart. 💙
At the end, all students were rewarded with “COASTAL EXPLORER” DIPLOMAS. 🏅
