About Me
Argiro (Roula) Andriopoulou
Biologist/ IMBRIW
Argiro (Roula) Andriopoulou is a biologist and passionate science educator at the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research who believes that environmental education has the power to transform both classrooms and communities. A graduate of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, with a Master’s degree in Environmental Education and Education for Sustainable Development, she has devoted her career to connecting scientific research with meaningful learning experiences. Her work centers on freshwater biodiversity, ocean literacy, river ecosystem stewardship, and empowering educators to bring sustainability into everyday teaching practice. Since 2015, as Head of the Education Unit at HCMR, she has designed and led innovative educational programs, environmental festivals, and large-scale outreach initiatives that make science accessible, engaging, and relevant. Through collaborations with networks such as the European Marine Science Educators Association and the Mediterranean Education Initiative on Environment and Sustainability, and through her role as ex- Vice President of the Panhellenic Association of Educators for Environmental Education (Attica), she actively supports a growing community of educators committed to sustainability. With experience in more than 20 national and international projects, Argyro’s mission is clear: to inspire educators to nurture environmentally conscious, scientifically literate citizens who are ready to care for our waters, our planet, and our shared future.
