The University of Zadar hosted Croatia’s first teacher training on Ocean Literacy and Blue Education on 10-11 October 2025. The two-day programme brought together 15 primary and secondary school teachers from across the country.
The training combined a full day of theoretical sessions and group work with a second day dedicated to field activities at Queen’s Beach and in the town of Nin. Through lectures, interactive workshops, and hands-on experiences, participants learned how to integrate ocean and water topics into regular school curricula across various subjects.
This training forms part of a broader set of experimental activities through which the University of Zadar contributes to advancing Blue Education in Croatia. The event was organised in cooperation with the Education and Teacher Training Agency, which recognised the importance of Blue Education and supported the development of programmes that enhance teachers’ competences in marine and freshwater sustainability.
