Grants for Schools

BlueLightS - 1st Call for Blue Challenges in European Schools

Are you ready to engage the next generation in ocean sustainability and kick-start your blue projects?

The EU Mission Restore our Ocean and Water by 2030 aims to reverse the damage to our ocean, coast and inland waters caused by human activities. To achieve this, it is crucial to foster ocean and water literacy and raise responsible and empowered future generations.

BlueLightS funds schools through calls to launch blue projects and bring the blue into classrooms, with the aim of enhancing ocean and water literacy.

By starting a blue project in your school, you will not only help your students gain a deeper understanding of aquatic environments; you can also join the Network of European Blue Schools (NEBS) and earn the prestigious European Blue School label!

This European Network is part of the EU4Ocean Coalition for Ocean Literacy, which connects organisations, projects and individuals committed to sustainable ocean management.

Objectives

Developing impactful projects in schools, which support the Mission Ocean & Water ambition and expand the Network of European Blue Schools.

Diversifying the community of schools engaged in blue challenges, including coastal and inland schools, primary, secondary and vocational schools, and schools for children with disabilities.
