BioAqua Cycle

Objectives of the project

BioAqua Cycle – the cycle of water, life and recycling aims to develop students’ awareness of the importance of preserving aquatic ecosystems, biodiversity, and sustainable habits such as recycling.

The project connects students from schools in Banja Luka, Travnik, and Šibenik through educational, ecological, and inclusive activities. It encourages responsibility, empathy, volunteering, and cooperation, while promoting European values such as tolerance, solidarity, and inclusiveness.

Activities

The project includes lectures, workshops, field visits, environmental clean-up actions, and recycling activities focused on water protection, biodiversity, and plastic pollution.

Students take part in a workshop on biodiversity, plastic, and river protection, visit the local water supply system, and participate in environmental cleaning activities. A school-wide plastic recycling initiative also involves all students and staff, helping build long-term recycling habits.

The project also includes inclusive creative activities, such as the Aquamosaic workshop, where students work together with children with Down syndrome to create water-themed collages.

Partner school visits and a study visit to the Croatian Coral Center help students learn more about marine conservation, the Adriatic Sea, and the importance of recycling.

Expected Outputs

The project will produce educational and promotional materials, including creative works, awareness materials, and communication content shared through the school website, social media, local media, eTwinning, and partner school channels.

Students will create and share materials linked to aquatic ecosystems, recycling, biodiversity, and marine protection. The project will also support future environmental activities by providing equipment and resources that can be reused in later projects.

A key output is the wider dissemination of environmental messages within the school, partner schools, families, and the local community.

Impact

The project is expected to strengthen students’ environmental awareness, responsibility, empathy, and understanding of aquatic ecosystems, biodiversity, and recycling.

Students will share their knowledge with peers, parents, and the wider local community, helping spread positive environmental habits beyond the classroom.

Teachers will improve their competences in environmental education, while parents and community members will be involved through joint activities. The inclusive workshops with children with Down syndrome will promote tolerance, solidarity, and togetherness.

Through cooperation with partner schools in Travnik and Šibenik, the project will also support regional collaboration and the exchange of good practices, contributing to long-term environmental awareness across the school and local community.
